The Malaysia Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MACCI) is a distinguished organization dedicated to promoting and enhancing economic, trade, and investment relations between Malaysia and African countries. Established with the vision of bridging the gap between these two diverse regions, MACCI provides a dynamic platform for businesses, investors, and industry professionals to connect, collaborate, and thrive.

MACCI is at the forefront of facilitating sustainable economic growth and development by fostering strategic partnerships, advocating for favorable trade policies, and offering comprehensive resources and support to our members. Our membership base is diverse, encompassing corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), entrepreneurs, and industry experts from a wide range of sectors.

OUR LEADERSHIP

Amarjeet Singh Ghai – President

Amarjeet has over 35 years of professional working experience comprising 15 years in the United Kingdom and 20 years in Malaysia, covering areas in accounting and business advisory. Amarjeet trained and qualified with a medium sized accounting firm in London. Upon his return to Malaysia in 1997, he joined Pricewaterhouse (now known as PwC ) in Kuala Lumpur. In 2005, Amarjeet set up AGS Advisory, an accounting and business advisory firm based in Kuala Lumpur providing multi disciplinary services in accounting, assurance, corporate & business advisory, tax advisory, financial & management information systems, and human capital. Amarjeet is the Managing Partner of AGS Advisory.

Dato Mohd Shahani – Deputy President

Dato Seri Dr. Mohd Shahani Baba is an esteemed and influential figure in the realms of international business, humanitarian work, and trade relations. As a Vice President of the Malaysia Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MACCI), he actively fosters strategic partnerships and promotes economic collaboration between Malaysia and African nations. In addition to his role at MACCI, he is a Member of World Humanitarian Drive (WHD), an international non-governmental organization dedicated to global peace, education, and humanitarian initiatives. Dr. Shahani’s commitment to economic development is further highlighted by his active involvement as a Member of PERDASAMA, Malaysia's association for Malay entrepreneurs, where he supports local businesses and champions entrepreneurial growth.

Olawande Olowoyeye – Deputy President

Olawande is a strategic and results-driven professional with over 15 years of extensive experience in international trade relations, business development, and event management. Known for exceptional leadership and people management skills, coupled with a strong ability to foster collaborations and drive international trade initiatives. Proven track record of organizing high-profile events and establishing strategic partnerships across various sectors. Currently serving as Deputy President of the Malaysia Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industry, demonstrating a commitment to enhancing bilateral trade relations and economic growth.

Dr. Oury Diallo – Vice President

Dr. Oury Bailo Diallo is the Vice President of the Malaysia Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MACCI) and Founder and General Manager of GLOBAL INTELLECT GROUP OF COMPANIES. Based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, he has over 17 years of experience in business, particularly in the F&B and agriculture sectors. His company operates across Malaysia, the UAE (Dubai), Senegal, and exports to over 90 countries globally, including 45 African nations. Originally from Conakry, Guinea, Dr. Oury is a strong advocate for South-South cooperation, particularly between Asia and Africa, believing it is key to Africa's industrialization and economic growth. His extensive exposure to both African and Malaysian business environments positions him as a significant player in fostering trade and investment between the two regions.

Abdul Kabur Shafinah – Secretary

Shafinah Abdul Kabur holds an LLB (Hons) from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), a Professional Diploma in Export Management from the University of Georgia, and a Vocational Training Officer Certificate from Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran. With over 20 years of experience, she has managed export operations, international trade delegations, and large-scale events across Malaysia and ASEAN. She has coordinated national and international conferences such as the International Conference on Palm Oil and Halal Cosmetics, and conducted training on export-related topics for new exporters. Formerly a sub-editor for Malaysia Trade magazine, Shafinah now serves as the Secretary of the Malaysia Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MACCI), continuing her work in trade promotion and professional development.

Dr. Sylvia Sim – Treasurer

Dr. Sylvia Sim is a Professional and HRDC-certified Trainer, as well as a U.K.-qualified Trainer (College of St. Mark & St. John, University of Exeter). She has served with Malaysia’s Ministry of Education across several Teacher Training Colleges and has extensive experience training educators and international students from countries including Thailand, Indonesia, Korea, Japan, and the U.K. A recipient of multiple scholarships, Dr. Sim holds a B.A. (Hons) in English and a Diploma in Education from the University of Malaya, a Dip. TESOL from RELC Singapore (SEAMEO Scholar), an M.A. (ELT) from the University of Nottingham (British FCO Scholar), an LLB (Hons) from Anglia Ruskin University, and a DBA from Switzerland. Currently, she advocates for natural and sustainable farming and promotes eco-tourism in Malaysia and across ASEAN.

Emmanuel Mensah Turkson – Committe Member

FCCA-qualified finance professional with an Executive MBA and extensive experience in Banking and Finance, including senior leadership as General Manager of an offshore bank. Skilled in financial management, regulatory compliance, and driving business growth.

Irina Shahwa Mohd Redza – Assistant Secretary

Irina Shahwa Binti Mohd Redza is a dynamic business development leader with over 20 years of experience across IT, training, media, and corporate services. She has a strong track record in driving strategic growth, fostering government and private sector partnerships, and leading impactful business initiatives with measurable results. Her expertise spans stakeholder engagement, marketing, branding, and financial acumen. Throughout her career, she has held leadership roles at Mesiniaga Berhad, Ancom Academy, and Titanium Compass, where she led transformative projects and collaborations. Irina holds a BBA from the University of Pennsylvania and a Diploma in Accountancy from Sunway College.

Muthusamy Veerappan – Committee Member

Muthusamy Veerappan (V.M. Samy), founder of Sri MS Group of Companies, hails from Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Since establishing Sri MS Development Sdn. Bhd. in 1979, he has built a strong business legacy marked by over 40 years of entrepreneurship, integrity, and leadership. Driven by ambition and innovation, he successfully diversified from the automotive sector into property development, plantations, and export/trading. Mr. Muthusamy actively contributes to business councils, serving as President of the Kongu International Business Council and Exco Member of both the Malaysia-Africa and Malaysia-Sri Lanka Business Councils, alongside a distinguished history of leadership in several national and regional organizations.

Dr. Abdul Kabur Ibrahim – Advisor

Dr. Abdul Kabur Ibrahim has more than 30 years working thesis help experience with the Malaysian government and the corporate sector. Whilst working with the government as a PTD officer he has served as the Malaysian Trade Commissioner in Belgium and South Africa under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry. He is also the President of the Malaysian Exporters Association and the Malaysian Training Providers Association. Abdul Kabur Ibrahim has also travelled extensively throughout the world covering more than 100 countries to organize and participate in market promotion programs including trade missions, trade and education fairs, marketing seminars and conferences, direct selling, e-commerce, counter trade, visit programs etc.
